There are moments in DMC4 where not having air hike can screw you such as that part in the forest where you have to jump across platforms before they dissappear, air hike is a life saver there.Īdditionally i find some of his animations take too long, particularly when he sheathes yamato after his rapid slash attack, it leaves him wide open, particularly in Legendary Dark Knight mode. I just don't think that dark slayer is the same to be honest as if you're locked on, you teleport to the enemy instead of performing a trick up, i never liked that. In Devil May Cry 4, air hike is essential, it's like an air dodge and because you are so vulnerable mid air in this game, it's important. Air hike wasn't crucial in DMC3, you didn't need it as there were alternative ways to avoid getting hit (sometimes by being aggressive). Why can't they map it to forward B instead? It feels more natural.Īnother thing is the lack of air hike. I want to be completely locked on to the boss yes but i don't want to warp to the boss with the press of the B button. This is because the bosses lack the downtime that they had back in DMC3, in this game you have to be able to exit a combo because an attack is comming and i just find that with Vergil's dark slayer, it just doesn't work. Devil May Cry 3 maybe but Devil May Cry 4 comes down to this "fast combo's with fast exits, rinse and repeat". ![]() I think basing a character around concentration is a good idea in theory but not very practical for a game like this. In DMC3 SE i loved playing as Vergil, he was something new and fun, plus he was fast, damn fast, something i find missing with this Vergil. Whilst i enjoyed playing through the game as Lady/Trish, i'm just not feeling it with Vergil, maybe it's the way he's designed or something but i just find him really awkward to play. Theres just something about Vergil I just can't get my head around in this game.
